Waterless technique may make shale more profitable and environmentally friendly

An unnamed company has asked Calgary-based GasFrac Energy Services to use its waterless liquid petroleum gas method to drill two Utica trial wells in Ohio, Crain's Cleveland Business reports. Although the practice is new and has its share of critics, Chevron did use LPG in Colorado recently, noting that it "significantly increases production while minimizing water usage," the article said.
