Utica shale play passes the 1,000 mark in wells drilled in Ohio

Ohio’s Utica shale play has passed the 1,000-wells-drilled milestone as it continues to be one of the nation’s fastest growing areas for oil and natural gas activity. The Columbus Dispatch says statistics released recently by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources show 1,004 wells having been drilled, in the process of being drilled or producing oil and gas. Carroll County in eastern Ohio has the most Utica wells, with 240 wells producing out of 363 drilled. Neighboring Harrison County ranks second, with 70 producing wells out of 174 drilled.
