U.S. shale rebound boosting business, hiring at Schlumberger

Schlumberger CEO Paal Kibsgaard says the oilfield services company, which has operations in Ohio’s Utica shale play, has started to redeploy idled hydraulic fracturing equipment in U.S. shale regions, hire workers and “gain traction on oilfield service prices,” reports FuelFix.com. The news site says Kibsgaard recently told investors that the drilling business in the United States, where oilfield spending is expected to increase 50% this year, has “clearly” taken the lead in the industry’s recovery after crude prices stabilized at around $50 a barrel.
