Some Brinker Storage Field landowners reach deal with NiSource

A group of landowners within the Brinker Storage Field in Columbiana County that elected not to sue Columbia Gas’s parent company, NiSource, recently entered into a deal with the company to receive a 15 percent royalty on oil and gas production, The Vindicator reports (See the Sep 19, 2012, blog – “Landowners within the Brinker Storage Field meet with Columbia Gas and Hilcorp Energy”). These landowners also received modern leases as part of the agreement, which include “information about water testing before drilling, setbacks, reclaiming the land and numerous other landowner protections,” the article said.
