Shell begins main construction phase at Pennsylvania ethane ‘cracker’ site

Royal Dutch Shell has announced that construction will move to the main phase of its $6 billion ethane “cracker” plant project in Beaver County, Pennsylvania now that preliminary site work has been completed, reports the Pittsburgh Business Times. The newspaper says about 920 tradesmen are working at the cracker site now. Those numbers are expected to rise to 1,000 by the end of 2017 and hit a peak of 6,000 in mid-2019 before the plant is operational early in the next decade. For more, read the full story.
