Shareholders approve Enbridge, Spectra Energy deal

Houston-based Spectra Energy Corp. and Enbridge Inc. in Canada are one step closer to creating a $127 billion energy infrastructure company that will include oil and natural gas pipelines, reports the Houston Business Journal. In separate meetings on December 15, 2016, shareholders of both companies approved Enbridge’s stock-for-stock deal to acquire Spectra for $28 billion. The deal, announced in September 2016, is on track to close in the first quarter of 2017 assuming the companies receive regulatory approvals and satisfy other closing conditions, according to the Business Journal.
