Road agreement for shale drilling equipment transportation

A Canton Repository article reports that the Stark County commissioners approved a road agreement negotiated by the county engineer and Chesapeake Exploration. Under the agreement, Chesapeake and the engineer’s office will evaluate the existing conditions of the roads and bridges used to access the company's four proposed drilling sites in Stark County to determine whether Chesapeake needs to make improvements before starting the project. After the well is drilled, Chesapeake must return the roads and bridges to their pre-use condition within a month of completion and it must post a $200,000 bond for each mile of road used and a $250,000 bond per bridge to cover the cost of any damages.
