Report: Chevron remains bullish on U.S. shale plays

A few major oil companies still see huge opportunity in U.S. shale plays, especially Chevron, reports the Motley Fool newsletter. It notes Chevron is primarily focused on west Texas' Permian Basin where it acquired 246,000 net leasehold acres from Chesapeake Energy in October 2012. Chevron also maintains stakes in the Marcellus and Utica shale plays in southwestern Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and West Virginia panhandle, as well as the Antrim shale and Collingwood/Utica shale areas in Michigan.
