Pennsylvania well permits hit five-year low during first quarter of 2015

The number of permits for unconventional oil and natural gas wells issued in Pennsylvania during the first quarter of 2015 fell by 30 percent compared to the same period a year ago, reports the Pittsburgh Business Times. Citing data from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), the newspaper says DEP issued 601 permits in the first three months of 2015 versus 863 permits in the first quarter of 2014.
