PDC Energy’s financial loss tied to Utica shale play operations

Denver-based PDC Energy Inc. said it lost $68.3 million in 2015, much of it because of its oil and natural gas operations in Ohio’s Utica shale play, reports Columbus Business First. The newspaper says PDC’s overall loss included $161.6 million in impairments "primarily related to the company’s Utica shale asset as a result of low commodity prices." PDC recently decided to focus its shale drilling operations in Colorado although it plans to “trickle activity" in Ohio this year, according to Business First. For more, read the full story.
