Oilfield brine starts flowing uphill in eastern Ohio

Oilfield brine water from the Utica and Marcellus shale plays recently began flowing uphill from Ohio Route 7 to injection wells off Ohio Route 676 in Marietta, reports the Marietta Times. John Jack, CEO of Water Energy Services, told the newspaper that the long-awaited Harmar Hill facility will help keep truck traffic from having to climb the hill by offloading brine at the company's processing site off Route 7. Waste Energy Services’ two facilities can accept up to 40,000 barrels of brine per day, filter the water in a closed system and pump it up the hill to be injected into disposal wells.
