Ohio oil and natural gas production bucks national trend

Despite low prices, Ohio’s natural gas and oil production is projected to continue to rise in March 2016 at the same time that output is falling almost everywhere else in the country, according to the Columbus Dispatch. Citing a U.S. Energy Information Administration report on production in seven U.S. shale regions, the newspaper says the Utica shale play is one of two showing a projected increase in oil production in March compared to February 2016 and the only one with an expected gain in gas output. But Shawn Bennett, executive vice president of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association, told the Dispatch: "The Utica was really the last shale play to be developed before the (price) crash, so it's the last one to slow down."
