ODNR director discusses recent micro-seismic events in Mahoning County

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR) decision to link recent seismic activity in the Youngstown, Ohio area to hydraulic fracturing was “based on sound science and without internal or external pressures,” said ODNR Director James Zehringer in an article in Columbus Business First. As a result of ODNR’s decision, the agency has issued new rules to strengthen permit requirements near areas that are known to have seismic activity.
