Monroe County to require special hauling permits for oversized/overweight loads

Monroe County officials in eastern Ohio are taking steps to help protect local roads, including increased traffic resulting from oil and natural gas operations, reports the Times Leader in Martins Ferry. The newspaper says Monroe County Engineer Amy Zwick and Prosecutor James Peters have prepared a resolution for the county commissioners that “gives the permits a little more teeth” and allows the sheriff’s department and Ohio State Highway Patrol to refuse to escort a vehicle if a permit is not in compliance with county permits.
