M&A activity in oil and natural gas sector falls with prices

by Mergers and acquisitions among U.S. oil and natural gas exploration and production companies fell to less than $15 billion in the second quarter of 2017, down from about $23 billion in the prior quarter, according to Bloomberg. The news service says the number of deals fell to their lowest level since early 2015, as oil prices dropped to around $45 a barrel and prices for natural gas are down by more than 20 percent for the year.
