FirstEnergy power plant site could house Ohio ‘cracker’ plant

An executive with FirstEnergy Corp. has indicated that the company’s R.E. Burger power plant property is the site for a proposed ethane “cracker” plant in Belmont County, Ohio, reports Columbus Business First. According to the newspaper, James Lash, president of FirstEnergy Generation, recently said the company is moving a machine shop from the Burger plant to Canonsburg, Pennsylvania in part because the cracker facility could take over the Burger property. FirstEnergy plans to retire the power plant in 2016, opening the door for the site to house the cracker facility should Thailand's PTT Global Chemical Public Company and Japan's Marubeni Corp. decide to proceed with the project.  For more, read the full story.
