FERC issues environmental impact statement on Atlantic Coast Pipeline

A final environmental impact statement (EIS) from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission says the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline that would carry natural gas across West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina would have some adverse environmental effects, but most could be reduced to insignificant levels, according to The Associated Press. The news service says the final EIS is a “major milestone in the approval process” for the 600-mile pipeline that would cross hundreds of bodies of water, mountains, national forest and the Appalachian Trail.
