EQT will focus drilling in core areas of Marcellus and Utica shale plays

Pittsburgh-based EQT Corp. will suspend natural gas drilling outside its core areas in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, a sign that “the commodities rout hasn’t spared gas producers,” reports FuelFix.com. Citing comments by EQT Chief Executive Officer David Porges during the company’s third-quarter earnings call, the FuelFix news site says EQT won’t drill new wells in central Pennsylvania and in the Upper Devonian shale basin that sits atop the Marcellus reservoir in the western part of the state. Instead, EQT will focus on its core acreage in the Marcellus and deep Utica shale formations in southwestern Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia in 2016. For more, read the full story.
