Conventional drilling finds record low amount of oil and gas

Energy companies discovered a record low amount of oil and natural gas through conventional drilling in 2015, reports FuelFix.com. Citing a new study by energy research firm Wood Mackenzie, the news site says the industry last year found 11.6 billion barrels of oil and gas that it could access via traditional vertical drilling as opposed to rising amounts from unconventional sources through horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing. The conventional drilling total was 3 billion barrels, or 21%, less than what was discovered in 1994, the next-lowest year on the list. For more, read the full story.
