Columbia Pipeline Group shareholders approve sale to TransCanada

TransCanada Corp. plans to close on its acquisition of Houston-based Columbia Pipeline Group Inc. in July 2016 now that Columbia shareholders have approved the $13 billion deal, reports the Houston Business Journal. When the deal is completed, Columbia will become an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of TransCanada, according to the newspaper. Columbia Pipeline Group, which was spun off from Indiana-based NiSource Inc. in 2015, owns and operates more than 15,000 miles of natural gas pipelines, including ones in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
