Chesapeake focuses on the liquids-rich Utica

In keeping with Chesapeake's announcement that it would redirect its focus onto areas rich in the more profitable oil and natural-gas liquids (See Jan. 24, 2012 blog – "Ohio should dodge Chesapeake's cutbacks"), a subsidiary has received approval to drill two new horizontal wells in Mahoning and Columbiana counties, according to an article in The Business Journal. Columbiana County officials said that Chesapeake plans to drill "at least 40 more" wells in their county this year, the article said.
