Chesapeake Energy to place 40 Utica shale wells into production

Chesapeake Energy Corp. plans to place 40 oil and natural gas wells into production in eastern Ohio’s Utica shale play during 2018, according to the Youngstown Business Journal. The newspaper says the company also noted in an earnings report that it placed 67 Utica wells into commission in 2017 and plans to operate two drilling rigs in the Utica region in 2018. In addition, Chesapeake said it expects to place in production up to 55 Marcellus shale wells in 2018, compared to 43 wells in 2017. For more, read the full story.
