Carroll County officials recount the good and bad parts of the shale boom

Although Carroll County is experiencing virtually full employment as a result of the natural gas industry, several cons are becoming evident, the Ashland Times-Gazette reports. Among these are longstanding companies losing workers to the new industry, landlords evicting long-term renters in favor of the higher-paying gas field workers, school overcrowding, traffic issues and affluent residents leaving the area due to the "diminished quality of life," the article said.
