Aither Chemicals gauges demand for chemicals from proposed ethane cracker in West Virginia

West Virginia-based Aither Chemicals signed a memorandum of understanding with Bayer MaterialScience last week to evaluate whether enough market interest in purchasing chemicals from a proposed catalytic ethane cracker in the Kanawha Valley region of West Virginia exists to justify moving forward with the project, Platts reports. The cracker facility would offer 600 million pounds per year of ethylene, 300 million pounds of acetic acid, 80 million pounds of carbon dioxide and 40 million pounds of carbon monoxide, the article said.
