New Shell cracker possibly coming to Southeast Ohio

With direct water port access a nonnegotiable requirement, the new $2 billion Shell Chemical plant will likely be located near the Ohio River in either Southwest Pennsylvania or Southeast Ohio, The Vindicator reports. The plant will include a cracker, which processes ethane from the natural gas found in the Utica and Marcellus shales to produce ethylene, one of the "primary building blocks for petrochemicals," the article said.
