U.S. tops the world in 2015 production of petroleum liquids, natural gas

The United States produced more petroleum liquids and natural gas than any other nation in 2015, reports the International Business Times. The newspaper says new data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) shows U.S. producers “still churned up more total hydrocarbons than Russia or Saudi Arabia” in 2015 even as low commodity prices forced companies to delay drilling and postpone projects. EIA says U.S. petroleum output increased by 1 million barrels a day to 15 million barrels a day in 2015, while natural gas production rose by 3.7 billion cubic feet per day to 74.2 billion.
