Rice Energy is planning an IPO for early 2014

Pennsylvania-based natural gas exploration and production company Rice Energy is planning an initial public offering [IPO] for early 2014 that could value the company from anywhere between $1.5 to $2.5 billion, Reuters reports. The privately held, family-owned company has "focused its efforts on Pennsylvania's Marcellus shale and Ohio's Utica shale" (See our Sept 30, 2013, blog post – "Belmont County leases 406 acres to a Rice Energy subsidiary for $7,500 per net mineral acre").
