New York regulators block pipeline that would carry Pennsylvania shale gas

State environmental regulators in New York have blocked development of a second major pipeline that would have carried natural gas from Pennsylvania's shale fields to New York and other markets, reports the Associated Press (AP). The news service says New York's Department of Environmental Conservation informed National Fuel Gas Company that it is denying a water quality permit for the 97-mile Northern Access Pipeline to western New York, saying the project endangered wetlands, streams and other habitat. AP says the decision comes about a year after the agency derailed the 124-mile Constitution Pipeline from Pennsylvania to eastern New York. For more, read the full story.
