Guernsey Power Station on delay until April

Norm Blanchard, executive director of the Cambridge-Guernsey County Community Improvement Corporation, announced on February 23, 2019 that construction on the Guernsey Power Station will not begin until April due to an objection filed by American Electric Power to the FERC, according to The Daily Jeff. The objection arose over AEP’s concern for a switching station being built on potentially unstable grounds due to nearby abandoned mines and who would bear the cost of grouting those mines. On February 21, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources hosted a hearing to gauge public opinion on the future of the project and whether or not the mines would be put into use again.
