Forest Service gives green light to Atlantic Coast Pipeline

The Associated Press reports that the U.S. Forest Service has granted approval for the Atlantic Coast Pipeline to run through the George Washington and Monongahela national forests. The news service says about 21 miles of the 600-mile natural gas pipeline are located on Forest Service lands, including where it will cross the Appalachian Trail. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission had signed off in October 2017 on the $5 billion project that will carry natural gas through West Virginia to Virginia and North Carolina.
