'Cracker-ready’ scholarships offered by Pennsylvania college

The Community College of Allegheny County is offering free tuition to Washington County, Pennsylvania residents through a scholarship program aimed at building a work force for Royal Dutch Shell’s ethane “cracker” plant in western Pennsylvania, reports the Pittsburgh Business Times. The newspaper says the “Cracker Ready Grant” initiative, funded by the Remmel Foundation through PNC Charitable Trusts, is providing $100,000 in scholarships for students to receive a one-year mechatronics certificate or go through a commercial driver’s license program.
