Chesapeake steps up oil and gas production in Utica shale play

Higher oil prices helped lift Chesapeake Energy Corp.’s oil and natural gas production in Ohio’s Utica shale play during the three months ending March 31, 2018, reports the Youngstown Business Journal. The newspaper says Chesapeake reported that it produced an average of 11,000 barrels of oil and 440 million cubic feet of natural gas per day from its Utica wells during the first quarter of 2018 compared to 8,000 barrels of oil and 380 million cubic feet of natural gas during the first three months of 2017. Chesapeake said it currently operates two rigs in the Utica region and placed 10 wells into production there during the first quarter. For more, read the full story.
