Chesapeake Energy job cuts include eight at Canton office

The Canton Repository reports that Chesapeake Energy has cut 13% of its workforce, or about 400 workers, including eight of nearly 100 positions at the company’s Louisville field office near Canton, Ohio. Chesapeake CEO Doug Lawler said the company is adjusting its workforce after selling a quarter of its oil and natural gas wells over the last couple of years. The Repository says Chesapeake opened an office in the Canton area in 2011 during the early days of the Utica shale boom and had more than 400 workers in and around Stark County at one time.
