Gov. Kasich wants to offset income tax cuts with an increase in the oil and gas severance tax
 

Gov. John Kasich's proposal to "leverage increased revenue from a hike in the oil and gas severance tax to offset the income tax cut" will likely encounter tough opposition from the oil and gas industry, representatives from which argue that increased tax rates caused the shale play in Arkansas to wither, Gongwer reports. The governor's "mid-biennial review," which includes this and other budget policy measures in a non-budget year, is expected to roll out next Monday, the article said.
