States vie for Shell's ethane cracker
 

State officials from Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia continue to make a case for why Shell's new ethane cracker should be located in their respective states, according to an article in the Pittsburgh Business Times. Ohio Gov. John Kasich visited Shell executives in Houston last year in an effort to persuade them (See Jan. 03, 2012 blog – "Kasich gets bipartisan support for potential Shell Chemical cracker plant" and the Jan. 17, 2012 blog – "New Shell cracker possibly coming to Southeast Ohio") – a move that West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin replicated this week. West Virginia also passed legislation that would "effectively cut taxes for 25 years in an effort to lure Shell," the article said.
