Carroll County family sues Chesapeake Energy for $1 million
 

A family in Carroll County has filed a $1 million lawsuit against Chesapeake Energy alleging that the oil and gas lease used by the company is invalid because it was notarized by three individuals with “an economic interest in the lease,” Farm and Dairy reports. The family is also accusing Patriot Energy Partners, which originally owned the lease before selling it to Chesapeake, of fraudulent concealment for knowing “about the hydraulic fracturing process when they signed the lease” and not telling them about it, the article said.
