As part of an ongoing effort to reduce debt, Chesapeake Energy plans to sell leases on 337,481 acres in parts of 19 counties in northeast, central and southeast Ohio, The Columbus Dispatch reports (See the Jun 01, 2012, blog – "Chesapeake Energy may struggle to make ends meet"). With about one million leased acres in Ohio's Utica shale left following the sale, Chesapeake will still have a larger stake in Ohio's Utica shale than any other company, the article said.
The affected counties are: Huron, Ashland, Lorain, Wayne, Summit, Geauga, Portage, Ashtabula, Trumbull, Licking, Fairfield, Hocking, Vinton, Muskingum, Perry, Morgan, Athens, Meigs and Washington.
